Our Vision – the service

The vision for Axiom Church is to create an opportunity for people to meet God.  It’s not in an experience that people find God.  It’s in an environment that points people’s minds and hearts to Him.  It’s in a distraction-less, excellent, exciting, Holy Spirit driven, and engaging service.  At our services you’ll find a modern worship band, casual dress, an uncomplicated service, and hear messages pulled from the Bible…not sprinkled with it.

Can you hear me now?

One of the primary reasons I believe that God sent us to Gainesville, FL was because of the connections.  Connections with family, old friends, pastors and even people that they know.  In the time we have been here in Florida we have seen many of the old acquaintance bear much fruit.

This past week I met with my old teacher who I had for Social Studies in 7th grade.  It’s been 19 years since he taught me, but he remembered me very well.   Now, it’s nice to be remembered and better that he didn’t think I was a punk, but that doesn’t help our church.  Here is what does….he is now the principal of the school and told me he would glad to let us use the school to have services next summer!  Plus, he said he would work with me on the price!!

There are lots of way to look at this seeming “coincidence.”  One is that it’s just unusual, but doesn’t mean anything.  However, when that school was the place I wanted to use, before I even moved here (because it’s in the heart of our target area), it’s a pretty freaking amazing.

Can’t wait for the next coincidence!

NEXT STEPS

So, maybe you’ve heard about Axiom, maybe you’ve heard about the vision to reach the people no other church is reaching.  If not I want to invite you to e-mail me at axiomchurchfl@gmail.com and we’ll let you know how you can find out more information.

If God is speaking to you about joining us on mission to reach Gainesville for Jesus Christ then let us share with you 5 things that we would like you to do:

  1. Pray. If you aren’t already receiving prayer updates with the over 100 prayer partners that we currently have, please email me at axiomchurchfl@gmail.com and I’ll put you on the mailing list.
  2. Give. We need your support now.  You can start giving in 8 or 9 months when we have our first preview service, but $200 then is just that, $200.  It will make more of an impact if you help us build a base from which to do ministry over the next 8 months, by giving something every month and eventually tithing to Axiom Church in the near future.  Either click on the donate tab on the right to give through PayPal or send a check made payable to “Axiom Church” and send to: 9719 SW 67th Dr.  Gainesville, FL 32608.
  3. Homework. We can’t be nearly as effective as we need to be if we don’t try to learn everything we can about what is being done now to reach the lost and how churches in Gainesville connect to the unchurched.  So, I would strongly encourage you to pick 3 Sundays in the next couple months to visit other churches…but don’t stop there.  Bring a notebook and write down everything you see from the time you enter the parking lot until you leave at the end of the service.  Try not to look at it like you see it.  Look at it like someone with little church background, someone who doesn’t understand the traditions and could do about 30 other things on Sunday morning other then go to church.  What would they be thinking?  Log your data in a notebook and send me an e-mail when you have it typed up…I’d love to learn from what you have seen.
  4. Relationships. It’s not enough to pray about God sending people or that God would just use Axiom to reach people.  So, the best thing you can do now is be intentional about developing relationships with lost people or with people who you think might be interested in joining us on mission.  Why don’t you consider spending less to time with your Christian friends and invest in someone who doesn’t go to church regularly. Finally, be thinking about who you could invite to the next Core Team meeting.
  5. Visit. My hope is that sometime this Fall we can take everyone who is committed to the vision of Axiom to Oak Leaf Church (or a similar church when we find one closer) to experience what we hope Axiom will resemble. Every church has a personality and  Axiom’s personality will be similar to Oak Leaf’s.  We would love for you to experience a modern, exciting, and aggressive minded church that is designed to reach the lost and disciple the saved.

It’s not on the list, but we would love to know of your commitment to Axiom so that Carrie and I can pray for you.   If you are 80%, 60% or something other then 100%, we would love to pray with you and ask God to show you clearly what your next step should be.

Thanks guys!!

Planted!

The seeds for Axiom Church were planted when 23 adults gathered on September 20, 2009 in a home in Southwest Gainesville, to hear the vision that God has given its Pastor to reach Alachua County for Christ.

Please subscribe to this blog or continue to visit this site for information about the churches’ values, beliefs, mission, strategies and it’s leadership.  We would also appreciate your support through regular prayer and generous giving.  To sign up to be on the Prayer Team, just follow this link.  If you would like to support the church financially, click on the Donate tab on the right of the screen and follow the instructions.

We cannot wait to see what God is going to do!
